STUDENT PlaNNERS
The student planner or agenda has been designed to help students manage their time and plan ahead, so that they can play an active role in their time management. KVR Middle School requires all students to consistently use their agenda throughout the year. If students lose their agenda, they are expected to buy a new one. When teachers assign tasks, it is expected that students record the specific details of these tasks in their planners.
Parents are encouraged to promote planner use at home on a daily basis, so students are prepared for class.
The planner is also used to relay messages from the school to home and vice versa.

If a student has missed or will miss a day of school, a parent or guardian may call and request work by 9:00 am to be picked up after 3:00 pm from the
office. The office is open until 3:30 pm.
Advisory: At KVR Middle School, students begin the morning with a 19 minute "Advisory" class. Middle School is not only a time to continue academic education; it is also a time to consider social issues important for students during adolescence. All students participate in this program

Change of Address/Phone: If you change your address/phone during the day, report the change to the office as soon as possible.
Closed Campus: KVR Middle School has a closed campus policy. This means that only students who attend KVR are to be on the school grounds during the school day. It also means that once your arrive at school you remain on the school grounds for the remainder of the school day. Students needing to sign out must do so through the main office. A written note from your parent or guardian is required.
Community Relations: We are part of the Penticton community. It is important that we maintain good relations with our community. At all times we expect our students to respect the property and premises of our neighbours.
Cyber Bullying: Cyber bullying is defined as the use of technology to support deliberate, hostile and hurtful behaviour towards an individual or group of individuals. Just like other forms of bullying, cyber bullying will be dealt with in our progressive discipline cycle.
Dress Code: Students and their parents are expected to support a learning environment where attire
is appropriate and not distracting to others.

Field Trips/Travel: Permission forms for all school-authorized excursions must be signed by the parents/guardians prior to the departure date.
Homework: Homework is an important part of our educational program and is a complement of many classroom activities. It emphasizes that learning is more than just a school class activity and independent learning is valued.
Lunch: It is important that you eat lunch every day. Students can eat their lunch in the multi-purpose room or outside. Students are not allowed to eat in the hallways. Please remember to clean up after yourself.
School Fees: The school fee is $35.00, which covers a student planner, student activities, and locker rental. As well, a $15.00 refundable textbook deposit is being collected when a new student enters KVR.
Starting the Day: A warning bell is rung at 8:34 am each day. Students are expected to be sitting silently at their desk prior to the start of the day, which is 8:37 am. At the beginning of the day, prior to 8:44 am, all personal belongings such as backpacks, coats, boots, and hats, are to be left in your locker.
Valuables: We encourage students to keep valuables locked in their lockers, thereby minimizing the temptation for theft. Please do not bring personal listening devices, cameras, cell phones, large sums of money, and other valuable items to school. Never leave money or valuables in the PE change rooms. If possible we will help recover missing things, but the school cannot assume responsibility.
